Reflections
It was a fun experience doing this project on the history of the typeface Garamond, we had a lot of laughs doing the puppet show together. It also revealed that these digital typefaces we see on the screen actually originated from somewhere on paper first and in Garamond's case, so many years ago in punch cutter's room in France. It is quite amazing how we are still using Garamond till this day. It is also interesting to know how the typeface evolved or inspire new fonts. A slight change in details begins a new typeface. That shows how important the small weight changes or angles in the characters are. I am now more aware of Garamond around me, although it is not the most favorite, I am learning to appreciate its long history and usefulness! Maybe, we will become like Hiro and be font fanatics in the future too!
